In our busy work life that’s limited to 8 hours every week, we often find ourselves in situations where we have to do more than what’s asked of us. Avoiding it isn’t an option and multitasking would only slow us down. Yet, many are able to finish their work on time and don’t let it pile up for next week.
How are they able to do it, you might wonder. Do they have a secret? Or a cheat sheet? One secret that all should know, is that they work for a very less time. In that time, they make the most use of their resources and finish every task at hand, one by one. Here are some more tips on how you can make the most of your time to be more productive:
1. Focus on one task at a time
The jobs you get in a single day are more than one and all of them come with strict deadlines. However, if you simply finish one task first and then move on to the next, it will be easier for you and won’t be tiring too.
2. Avoid multitasking
Multitasking divides your attention to other tasks, instead of focusing on one. Yes, it does help in you finishing your work at a faster rate, but it also has its setback – making mistakes. When you’re working on a single task, the chances of making mistakes are low as compared to multitasking.
3. Set a work schedule
Instead of spending your whole day at work and getting nothing done, create a work schedule, where you can devote time to work and what else needs to be done first. This way, you would be able to work faster and at a time that’s convenient to you.
4. Create a to NOT Do list
List down all the things that would take your mind away from work, be it social media sites, or gaming sites and try to avoid visiting them at your works hours. If at times when you feel the need to take a break, then visit them, but only for a short while.
5. Take a break
Our minds don’t work that well during pressure, so why let the pressure build up in the first place? Take a break every once in a while, by focusing on other activities or tasks and then get back to the work you were doing before. You’ll feel refreshed and would be able to do that job with a clear and concise mind.
